The UK’s life sciences sector is
world-leading, highly productive and fast growing. It generates
over £60 billion to the UK’s economy with a workforce
of over 230,000. In recognition of the current and forecast future
value of the life science sector in Lambeth, particularly in terms
of delivering long-term sustainable jobs, supporting the growth of
the life science sector in Lambeth is a priority for the council.
The decision seeks approval to allocate capital funds to create a
new life science incubator project in Waterloo. Enabling this space
will grow the life sciences ecosystem within the borough, bringing
forward new skills and employment opportunities that residents can
benefit from, and seeding activity ahead of the Royal Street
development.
