West Norwood land acquisition
One of the Council’s strategic priorities is to diversify and strengthen the employment role of the West Norwood Commercial Area. The development of land within the Commercial Area is recognised as critical to stimulating investment in, and realising the full potential of West Norwood, which is set out in the Council’s publication of the West Norwood and Tulse Hill Manual for Delivery (April 2017).
The Council seeks to acquire the unconditional freehold of a key site in the West Norwood Commercial Area, which if the Council controlled should support a redevelopment to provide a range of employment uses within flexible light industrial premises to increase and complement the workspace offer in the Commercial Area.
More broadly, an acquisition would enhance the council’s position taking a lead in catalysing and delivering growth and investment in the area. This accords with the strategic priorities of the Borough Plan, and in particular Local Plan policy PN7.
