Petition details

Carnegie Library Herne Hill

We the undersigned petition the Council to Continue to provide a full library service at Carnegie Library, with no reduction in space, bookstock or staff.

The library is an essential service for people in Herne Hill and vicinity, providing learning, skills development, advice & information, creative expression, entertainment, enterprise, socialising, healthy living and well being. There is no demand for another gym in the area, which is already well provided with such facilities; and installing one at Carnegie would be inappropriate and damaging to our listed building. We urge the council to work with the Friends of Carnegie Library and associated user groups to agree a sustainable solution for the building and service.
