Council response
An independent consultation exercise was carried out to inform
the designs and widening of pavements at this location. This
consultation exercise and proposals were informed by published
Council policy, the published local Masterplan as well as Mayoral
priorities articulated in the Mayor’s Transport Strategy.
Delivery access has been provided through the provision of a
loading bay which allows long vehicles to load and unload.
The Council has listened to concerns of traders and
provided/re-designated parking bays in the local area to meet these
concerns and produced some new signage and maps. Alongside these
new designations, provision at the junctions of Chestnut Road and
Chatsworth Way has offset any loss on Norwood Road. It is
anticipated given the significant level of local investment in
infrastructure in West Norwood (for example the leisure centre,
library, cinema and cemetery), the robust transport provision
between West Norwood and Tulse Hill and the increased pedestrian
footfall in the area that this will enable Norwood Road to be a
thriving high street
A document with additional information is supplied which details
the background to the exercise
