The project will deliver a package of public realm improvements to Lambeth’s principal market street Electric Avenue, supported by £869k from the Mayor’s High Street Fund (HSF). Improvements will include the introduction of high quality hard landscaping, extensive street furniture removal, new power units for market traders and better way finding to the market streets. he design proposals are being co-produced with the Brixton Market Traders’ Federation, the Brixton Business Improvement District (BID) and the Brixton Society and are subject to wider public consultation. Overall, the interventions are designed to help both market traders, local businesses and local residents. The final proposals will be agreed mid August 2015 and the construction is programmed to start in October 2015 and conclude in March 2016. The delivery timeframe is dictated by the terms of the HSF award.
