The decision is to award a contract to South
Thames Crossroads for a respite sitting service. The service has
operated in the borough for a number of years, and is highly
regarded by carers and users. The workers are fully trained to
offer care and support to people with disabilities, including
learning disabilities and dementia.
This report proposes award of three year cost and volume contract for the provision of home based respite day and night service to Help for Carers, from 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2019, and with an option to extend this for a further 2 years to 31 March 2021. The service recently changed its name on 11 February to Help for Carers. It was previously known as South Thames Crossroads. The service is predominantly for carers of older people.
