Public Health Contracting Arrangements 2014/15

Decision Maker: Cabinet Member for the Voluntary Sector and Leisure

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

Approval to establish and extend Public Health Contracts (transferred from the NHS in April 2013) for up to 2 years (1 plus 1 year extension) from April 2014 March 2016 to enable a formal review of all services lead by the Public Health specialist team

Decision:

In order to maintain current quality standards and minimise service disruption the report proposes a waiver of the Local Authorities procurement requirements for the service contracts that have transferred from the NHS for a period of at least 12 months from April 2014. During the next 12 months the Public Health specialist and Commissioning leads will undertake a schedule of service reviews that are intended to inform the development of future commissioning intentions.

A summary of service contracts that now fall within the commissioning responsibility of the local authority are provided in the six appendices to the report.
