Streatham Hub – Allowance for Fit Out Variation

Decision Maker: Adults' and Community Services

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Over the past six months officers have sought to fully establish the budgetary position in relation to the general fit out provision agreed within the construction contract with Tesco. A sum of £935,000 for ‘loose equipment’ originally established between the council and GLL in 2007 has also been subject to review. The result of this exercise informed by GLL (retained Leisure operators) has identified a budget shortfall. The main reason for this being, that since 2007 elements of the specification have become outdated and need to be improved. A good example of this is the audio visual/public address system, where technology has moved on along with customer expectation. The necessary enhancements to the specification will enhance the user experience, reduce maintenance costs and generally support the smoother delivery of GLL’s own 8 week fit out programme. In turn improve the offer making the centre more profitable, increasing the level of return for the council and GLL. In March 2013 DLT gave approval for these fit out costs to be met from the GLL/LBL surplus share development fund.
